Dr. John H. Hitchcock: Professor, University of Minnesota, USA
John Hitchcock is the Marilyn Sime Professor for Educational Excellence within the Evaluation Studies program at the University of Minnesota (USA). He was previously an associate vice president at Westat, and he has held tenured faculty appointments at Indiana University and Ohio University. John previously served on MMIRA’s board as Chair of the Membership Committee (2016-2018). He coauthored multiple journal articles, book chapters, and books on mixed methods research. If elected to this role, John will be interested in supporting the thoughtful use of mixed methods research as Artificial Intelligence tools become more widely available and in expanding membership.

Dr. Leah Garner-O’Neale: Senior Lecturer, The University of the West Indies, Barbados.
Leah Garner-O’Neale is a Senior Lecturer in Chemistry at The University of the West Indies and resides in Barbados. She is passionate about mixed methods research and science education and has enjoyed contributing to the growth of both areas through leadership, teaching, mentorship, and collaboration. Her service has included roles such as past President of the MMIRA Caribbean Chapter, Chair of the MMIRA MOOC, Co-Chief Editor of the Caribbean Journal of Mixed Methods Research, and member of the 2024 Global Conference Committee. She hopes to bring thoughtful organization, collaboration, and a strong commitment to supporting the continued work and community of MMIRA.

Dr. Arati Maleku: Associate Professor,
The Ohio State University College of Social Work, Columbus, Ohio.
My name is Arati Maleku. I am a U.S. based Nepali scholar and Associate Professor at The Ohio State University College of Social Work in Columbus, Ohio. My scholarship centers on transformative mixed methods research designs in global and community-engaged contexts, with particular focus on migration and refugee communities, health equity, and structural inequities. My mixed methods scholarship engages community-based participatory research, visual methodologies, and mixed methods pedagogy through the integration of qualitative, quantitative, participatory, and visual approaches. My global mixed methods work has involved leading methodological training and research capacity-building initiatives across policy, practice, and higher education settings in Nepal and Kenya. If elected to serve as SECRETARY for MMIRA’s Executive Board, I would contribute experience in interdisciplinary collaboration, international partnership-building, and advancing global dialogue on transformative mixed methods research across disciplines and regions.

Dr. Tamara Trošt: Associate Professor,
University of Ljubljana, Slovenia
I am Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Ljubljana, School of Economics and Business, located in Ljubljana, Slovenia, where I teach doctoral-level mixed methods, qualitative methods, and sociology courses. While I mostly teach methods, my research substantively focuses on nationalism, ethnic identity, and social change. I hold a Ph.D. in Sociology from Harvard University, have taught at the Univ. of Graz (Austria) and Princeton University (USA) and have been an active member of the Mixed Methods International Research Association since 2017 through committee service and conference participation. Based in Slovenia, I would contribute a perspective from a region underrepresented on the Board, helping strengthen the organization’s international reach and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Dr. Melissa DeJonckheere: Assistant Professor, University of Michigan, USA
Dr. DeJonckheere is an experienced mixed methods research methodologist. Her research focuses on mixed methods in adolescent health services research. She is funded by numerous sources, including the National Institutes of Health and focuses on the psychosocial influences on health and well-being, particularly among adolescents with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. She has over 80 publications, mostly focused on mixed methods research, including substantial methodological contributions (e.g, community-based participatory research, thematic analysis in mixed methods research). She is an active reviewer for the Journal of Mixed Methods Research and other journals, giving her a broad insight into interdisciplinary mixed methods research. Her funded work also includes a research training program, giving her insight into research capacity and skill needs. Moreover, Dr. DeJonckheere is an experienced leader and an award-winning mentor. She directs the University of Michigan Mixed Methods Program and supervises and mentors learners and staff. Her skills and experience position her as an excellent candidate for the Member-at-large position.
